Crompton Lighting originated in Great Britain over a century ago, back in 1878. Its founder, Colonel Crompton, was an entrepreneur who was interested in electricity. He went on to invent the first ARC lamp to contain a shadow reducing filament. In its early days, Crompton established its reputation by supplying electric lamps and fittings to Queen Victoria's palaces. In fact, Crompton is responsible for designing and installing some of the earliest recorded electric lighting fixtures in buildings such as the Windsor Castle and Holyrood Palace.
